WELCOME

Who Are the MCC Niners?

We are comprised of a group of women (18 years or older) who are golf members of Monterey Country Club. Ladies of all abilities are welcome including new and not-so-new golfers. Play Days are every Tuesday and Friday morning during the November to May season. New members are welcome to join at any time of the year.

Tuesday's format is always Stableford, and Friday is a different game each week, selected by our Weekly Games Chair.  Three clubs and a putter, least putts, or a partner's best ball are just a few examples.  Once each month there is a luncheon and a general meeting following golf. Many members gather for informal lunches in the Members Lounge after play.

Join the Niners to have fun improving your game while expanding your knowledge of the rules and etiquette of golf. Be sure to participate in the many exciting events:

  • Welcome back event
  • Member/member tournaments
  • 9ER/18ER partner tournament
  • Participation in Invitational events with other Desert Niners clubs
  • Couples events/dinner
  • Niners Championship Tournament
  • Finale event

Greetings Niners,

Welcome back to the Desert!

It looks like we survived Hurricane Hillary this summer, even though our beautiful course took a thrashing.  Jesse and his crew and Mike Feeney are working hard to bring it back to its former self.

I hope you are all looking forward to our usual Tuesday and Friday play days.  Lynn Ladd and Kathy Stambaugh are coming up with lots of new games for Fridays to keep it fun.

Linda Lovig and Carol Maloney have more field trips in the works for us. And of course, the best part of the season is getting out on the links with our good friends.

Be sure to check out our website at mccniners.golfgenius.com.   Once you are there, everything you need to know is within your grasp.  From the calendar to the member list, from the next weeks’ games to the prize money you’ve won.  It’s all there. Spend some time exploring Golf Genius this year.  Diane Achman has fine-tuned it in a stellar fashion.  It is a fabulous tool for us that is not too difficult once you get familiar with it.  Get on the website and don’t be afraid to click on anything.  You can’t break it.  And you will discover all sorts of great things.  The best access is from a desktop, laptop, or tablet.  Sometimes the phone app is a little twitchy.

Whether you are new to the MCC9rs or have been around the course a few times, the Member Handbook has a load of information for you.  I encourage you to check it out.  It is on the website under the “Photos and Info” tab.  Our mentor program is in full swing this year.  All new members have been assigned a mentor that they can reach out to if they have questions or need help with something.  If you are not so new, but still feel you need some help to get up to speed, let us know.

Remember:

  • Post all your scores from rounds played that are not part of a 9rs playday.
  • Keep up the pace of play.
  • HAVE FUN!
